This is one easy and tasty summer dessert! I cheated and used some shortcuts, but I was done with this pie in under 20 minutes.
For this pie you will need:
- 2lbs of fresh Strawberries
- 1 Pie Crust
- 1 package of either strawberry or raspberry Danish Dessert
Some of you may not have heard of Danish Dessert, but it can usually be found in the baking aisle, or even online at Amazon or Walmart. It holds the pie together and is the big shortcut in this recipe. If you can call it a recipe… more so just instructions on how to assemble your awesomely easy and delicious strawberry pie. 😉
Today I’m using a store bought pie crust. Don’t judge! It’s been a busy weekend… I followed the directions on the box, I suggest you use a trusted recipe or purchase a crust and follow the directions on your box as well.
So, bake your crust accordingly, and while baking I suggest washing and hulling your strawberries. I used a straw to hull mine, but you can use a paring knife or a special huller.
Next, you will want to follow the directions on the Danish Dessert box (lots of direction following today, right?). Dump your pink powder into a medium sized sauce pan and add 1 3/4 cup of cold water. Stir over medium high heat until it comes to a boil, and boil for one minute. It will change colors drastically when done.
Super bright and odd looking powder before boiling…
Less strange looking, deeper in color, more translucent mixture after boiling.
Pour your mixture into a large bowl and let it cool for a couple of minutes and then add in your strawberries. Give them a good toss, making sure they are all coated.
Add to your baked pie crust. You may need to use your hands to arrange the strawberries.
Beautiful! I want it noooow. But it needs to chill in the refrigerator for a few hours, or until set.
Once set, serve and enjoy! I recommend enjoying with some nice whipped cream.
